Wendi Weiner, creatively known as the Writing Guru®, is a talented wordsmith with a passion for self-expression. Her true gift for writing was discovered at an early age when her parents found a collection of short stories and poems in one of her dresser drawers. For years, she continued to fill the drawer with her poetry, short stories, and other compositions. Her creative writings often gained recognition and accolades in various competitions while her leadership and knack for public speaking as a member of her high school debate team resulting in her placing at national tournaments.
Wendi’s forte in writing extended into her college years at Florida State University where she concentrated her studies in literature and creative writing. She graduated with honors in her major, English, and received a certification in Secondary Education. After college, she worked at a middle school in Miami as a Language Arts teacher and facilitated after-school programs which assisted economically disadvantaged students with tutoring in reading and writing. Subsequently, Wendi attended Stetson University College of Law, a top 100 law school that is ranked #1 in the country for advocacy and #3 in the country for legal writing. During law school, she served as a research assistant to several professors and became noted in various publications for her skilled efforts. She also received honors in her legal writing coursework and was a recipient of the prestigious William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award for her devoted community service.
Wendi’s legal career encompassed 10+ years of multi-faceted litigation and expansive research and writing experience while working at a 400+ attorney national law firm, litigating appeals for a top-tier statewide law firm, working as a corporate attorney for a Fortune 200 company, and serving as an advocate in the public sector for criminal defendants with mental health issues. Simultaneously, for over seven (7) years, she served as a distinguished adjunct professor of writing at local colleges and was nominated for Adjunct Professor of the Year. To date, Wendi maintains her own personal blog which chronicles her running journey through two of the world’s major marathons, New York City and Chicago. It is of no surprise that she is a Nationally Certified Resume Writer (NCRW) – a designation that exists for only 50 resume writers in the country – for which she is recognized as a expert authority in crafting resumes for professionals of all levels. She has been published for her knowledge and expertise in resume writing in top magazines, including The Huffington Post and Forbes, and frequently hosts speaking engagements at businesses and educational institutions.
Wendi’s skills in writing and editing culminated in her forming The Writing Guru® which has transcended her lifelong vision and dream: to help others perfect their writings and succeed in their career goals. In her very limited spare time, she enjoys running, spinning, bonding with her shih tzu Riley that she rescued 11 years ago, and giving back to the community as a member of the Ben Gurion Society of the Broward Jewish Federation, Get Hired Miami, and The National Resume Writers’ Association.
